Carbon & Climate Change Lab

Climate Change Lab

In the lab soil and plant analysis takes place covering carbon concentrations of soil, water and atmosphere coupled with the capacity to look at micro-scale changes in carbon respiration and cycling in responses to perturbations in soil climates.  The facility is also used to monitor N in soil and plant tissues, with associated measurement of greenhouse gas emissions such as nitrous oxide, associated with the coupled C and N cycles in the soil.  The fume-hood capacity is used to measure trace pollutants in the environment, and the linked soil water laboratory allows us to determine the soil moisture characteristic of the soils in which we study the changes in soil carbon and nitrogen in response to environmental influences.
