MWC Block 3 Stairwell

The project involved the removal of all the asbestos within blocks 1, 2, 3 & 4 and the complete internal demolition and refurbishment of blocks 1, 2, and 3 to a standard which is expected by both the BCA and living arrangements required of the occupants. Block 4 involved the repairing of the external wall tanking system and the removal and replacement of the timber flooring within the Marnie Yates room. So as to accommodate the Students the works were carried out over a period of twelve months with Block 2 being the first to be complete, blocks 1 and 3 were completed thereafter. The works within the Marnie Yeates room was carried out in sequence with the works to the three blocks. On completion of the Blocks and to fully comply with the BCA in regards to movement of disable occupants externally it was decided to upgrade the paths and stairs to incorporate fully compliant ramps and stairs to all parts of the college.
