SA Chapter of UNE Alumni Association

The South Australian Chapter for the UNE Alumni Association (SACUNE) began in 1996 when a group of enthusiastic alumni residing in SA came together to form the association. SACUNE has continued to thrive, with some of the original members still active.

Just as our membership is varied, so too are our functions! We always aim to be family friendly, and we pride ourselves in being inclusive - alumni, current students and their family and friends are all welcome. We generally offer 4 to 5 functions each year.

The purpose of our SA Chapter is threefold:

  • UNE CONNECTION – to maintain a connection with the University, keeping abreast of what is happening as it continues to meet the needs of current and future students;
  • COLLEGIALITY - To allow UNE Alumni and Students to socialise, building and strengthening connections with each other;
  • SCHOLARSHIP -To promote and raise funds for an annual scholarship, assisting a South Australian student with their studies (remotely or on campus). Note - Details on how to donate can be found below.

Our committee is active and vibrant, reflecting a broad spectrum of interests and expertise.

If you have further enquiries about our SA Chapter or would like to receive our emails, please contact alumni@une.edu.au

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to one of our functions.

Bonnie Pearson2024 SACUNE Scholarship Recipient: Bonnie Pearson

Bonnie Pearson is studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy, continuing her passion in primary health care within the Eyre Peninsula region.

Bonnie has eight years’ experience as a registered nurse, and has chosen to pursue pharmacy to offer more services to benefit community and to support patients and other health professionals in her local community.

Bonnie has recognised the evolving landscape for pharmacy and the integral role for pharmacists can play in health care.

Bonnie’s scholarship application displayed her ability to think outside the box. Whether it’s finding better ways to deliver patient care or inspiring colleagues to embrace change, Bonnie demonstrates natural leadership. She clearly enjoys educating, training and upskilling her colleagues. Her dedication to her patients and her community drives everything she does. Her focus is on actively assisting patients in achieving their health goals, particularly in chronic disease management.

The scholarship enables Bonnie to step up to full-time study in 2024 with three intensive schools in Armidale and helps supports her travel to Cairns to pursue her Honours Project. Her research focuses on de-prescribing antidepressant drugs—a critical area for patient well-being. In 2025, she plans to bridge the gap between regional hospitals and pharmacies during her intern year. Bonnie is keen to maintain dual registration in pharmacy and nursing.

The SACUNE Committee recognizes Bonnie’s dedication and foresight, exemplifying the spirit of community-driven health care.
