Maintain your on-the-pulse professionalism by exploring the latest developments in microeconomic theory in this advanced unit.
This unit will equip you with the tools and concepts required to understand scientific research papers that use microeconomics.
You will update your knowledge of modern microeconomics methods and theories as you examine topics such as consumer theory, producer theory, market structures, general equilibrium and welfare economics, and externalities and public goods. You will also consider the policy implications of these theories.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- critically evaluate the sources, values and validity of information from the microeconomic literature in major professional journals;
- identify and critically evaluate the weaknesses in some of the popular discussions on microeconomic topics;
- develop analytical tools and a body of knowledge in microeconomics to undertake professional, graduate work and as a pathway for research and further learning; and
- apply professional knowledge in economic policy making where microeconomics plays a major role.
