Unit information
In this unit, you will develop up-to-date knowledge of case conceptualisation from different theoretical perspectives, supporting your ability to assess and formulate cases. You will build the foundation you need to effectively undertake clinical assessment and case conceptualisation, while also honing your professional writing skills.
During the mandatory intensive school you will gain hands-on experience and feedback, learning to apply your skills to diverse case studies. You will learn to work collaboratively with clients to establish goal setting and treatment plans. With an awareness of Indigenous cultures and an acknowledgement of Indigenous history, you will complete this unit equipped to develop ethical and culturally-appropriate treatment plans in diverse healthcare settings.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate specialised knowledge of case conceptualisation from different theoretical perspectives;
- critically analyse clinical assessments, and devise goals for therapy and evidence-informed treatment plans for diverse case studies;
- develop a theory informed case conceptualisation and develop an ethical and culturally responsive treatment plan;
- conduct research into best practice for report writing and referral letters to other health professionals relating to comorbidity; and
- demonstrate an understanding of culturally responsive practice in counselling Indigenous clients
