Unit information
Building upon your knowledge from GRMN202, this unit will further enhance your confidence in your German language skills. You will develop your competence in reading, writing, understanding and speaking German at an upper-intermediate to advanced level.
While continuing to strengthen communicative competence in spoken German, equal focus will be given to grammar and composition skills for written language.
Your ability to appreciate cultural products of German speaking societies will also be further enhanced.
Pursue your goal of becoming a confident communicator in a second language and future proof your career in a global economy where over 130 million people speak German.

Students with substantial knowledge of German but with no formal University qualification and students who completed their language study more than five years prior to enrolment should contact the discipline convenor to request a placement test.
First language (German) speakers may not enrol in German language units except when required for (school) teaching accreditation in Australian states and territories.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate accuracy in listening and reading skills in German language at an upper-intermediate level;
- demonstrate increased accuracy in speaking and writing skills in German language at an upper-intermediate level;
- communicate autonomously in German at an upper-intermediate level with depth and critical insight on various topics and aspects of German society and culture;
- apply depth of knowledge of German cultural and social norms and German society through communicative outputs; and
- use well-developed cognitive skills to analyse and synthesise information when communicating at an upper-intermediate level.
