Unit information
When you learn Indonesian you are learning more than just a language. It opens a window to a whole new world of culture and opportunity. Skills in the Indonesian language also enhance your career options as the Indonesian economy rapidly gains significance in the Asia Pacific region.
This early-intermediate level unit builds upon the foundation gained in the first-year introductory units. Various aspects of Indonesian culture and society, such as ways of making and maintaining contacts, shopping, discussing and obtaining medical services, will be introduced through a variety of texts.
You will develop your aural, oral, reading and writing skills through various communicative tasks and activities. You will also learn grammar which will help with your language acquisition, and your ability to communicate on a wider range of topics.
Future proof your career by learning a language that over 300 million people in Asia use to communicate.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
