Unit information
Bring a new dimension to your practice by enhancing your ability to develop and engage in a supervisory relationship. This unit will add value to your professional role by providing you with a foundation in the theory and practice of supervision.
Supervision of people in training can pose a unique range of issues and ethical dilemmas. You will explore different models and processes of supervision and reflect upon the challenges you might encounter.
Get real-world exposure by critically analysing a supervision session, and gain in-depth understanding of how to provide effective guidance and support to supervisees through evaluation and feedback.
Build your confidence in a range of healthcare settings by examining risk management for supervisees and clients, together with the roles and responsibilities of both supervisors and supervisees.

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate synthesised theoretical knowledge of supervision;
- critically reflect upon the ethical issues and challenges that might arise in the provision of supervision;
- critically evaluate different supervisory models and processes; and
- critically analyse a supervision session.
