Unit information
Crime prevention can reduce costs associated with the criminal justice system as well as the social and emotional costs for victims of crime.
In this unit, you will examine the theory, policy, practice, and politics of crime prevention. You will develop and apply skills that will enable you to understand different crime prevention policies and practices and evaluate their effectiveness. You will also acquire practical knowledge related to the design, planning and implementation of crime prevention strategies and policies in a range of community and organisational contexts.
Drawing on your learning in this unit, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you develop to real-world problems by working directly with key criminal justice industry partners. Together, the theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills gained in this unit will aid you in both researching and implementing practical responses to crime.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
