Unit information
Australia’s cotton crops are vulnerable to potentially devastating insect pests, weeds and diseases. To maintain our position amongst the world’s leading cotton exporters, skilled professionals who can manage these threats are critical to the industry.
Studying this unit, you will examine avenues for cotton crop protection, exploring the scientific basis for their management as well as practical, sustainable methods for their control.
You will develop specialised knowledge of identification, thresholds and integrated control mechanisms of all cotton pests.
Case studies of several problems specific to Australian crops will extend your knowledge of the environmental implications, and the biological and ecological factors, important for various crop protection measures.
