Unit information
Contribute to discovery in agriculture with this unit, the thesis component of UNE’s Master of Science in Agriculture.
Choose a research topic from one of the diverse areas of research available within the School, in consultation with our academic staff.
Your thesis will comprise the results of your research project and must show independence of thought and critical evaluation of your own work and published work in your field of study. Critiquing both published work in the field and your own work gives you the opportunity to develop advanced subject matter expertise in your chosen area of research.
You may also conduct a detailed literature review and prepare one or more papers of a publishable standard, written in the style of an appropriate peer reviewed journal, in lieu of a thesis.
Your thesis should not normally exceed 20,000 words, excluding tables, plates, figures, references and appendices.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
