Notes
This unit requires 10 days of block placement in an ACECQA approved centre-based early childhood education setting with a four year degree qualified supervising teacher and children aged birth to 5 years. Before entering the setting, all students must have completed online anaphylaxis training, an online Child Protection module, and have obtained a valid Working with Children Check clearance (for those students wishing to complete their placement in NSW) or equivalent (for those students wishing to complete their placement outside NSW).
Students must also comply with current placement centre vaccination rules.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- apply knowledge of language and communication learning trajectories to observe emerging language and communication capabilities and apply the early years planning cycle (CS: 1.2, 2.4, 2.6, 3.1, 3.4, 3.5, 3.9, 6.3);
- support the language learning and communication skills for children learning English as an additional language or dialect (CS: 1.2, 1.6, 2.4, 2.6, 3.1, 3.4, 3.5);
- embed opportunities for multiliteracies within curriculum planning and emphasise embedding local Indigenous and other community languages (CS: 1.6, 2.4, 2.6, 3.1, 3.4, 3.5, 3.9); and
- reflect on children’s individual progressions along reading and writing learning trajectories in a team-based context (CS: 1.2, 1.6, 2.4, 2.6, 3.4, 3.9, 6.3).
