Unit information
This unit is designed specifically for educators who wish to engage in a research project and explore key elements of research scholarship and practice. This unit provides you with the opportunity to begin research in a topic of your interest via the development of scholarly artefacts, proving your ability to effectively employ your specialised research and academic knowledge.
In this unit, you will also get an opportunity to identify, evaluate and critically assess research designs and methods, as well as their applicability and relevance to your context of practice.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an advanced and integrated theoretical understanding of key research processes and methods;
- identify, evaluate and critically assess research designs and methods and their applicability and relevance to a defined area of practice;
- use expert judgement and analysis of empirical and theoretical literature to identify and synthesise key themes within a relevant area of educational research; and
- apply specialised research and academic knowledge to critique and/or plan a research project to improve practice in a context of their choosing.
