Unit information
Educators of students in a bilingual or plurilingual learning environment have an important responsibility to help their students navigate the boundaries of language and culture in the classroom and the wider community.
In this unit you will explore what it means to be a user and teacher of more than one language and focus on developing processes for understanding how students learn in a range of educational contexts.
You will investigate plurilingual teaching models, programs, literature and practical scenarios.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an advanced understanding of themselves as users and teachers of more than one lanuage and culture;
- complete a needs analysis of learners and learning contexts, with a focus on learner language backgrounds and current and future language use and language learning needs;
- critically evaluate a range of theories, models and practices of plurilingual learning contexts; and
- demonstrate expertise in integrating emerging understandings about plurilingual learning into language education practice.
