Unit information
To add value in your role and future proof your career as a business decision maker, you need a strong understanding of the core concepts of accounting and finance.
Studying this unit will equip you with a broad-based overview of accounting and finance essential to solving complex business-related problems.
In this unit you will build the skills to interpret and use accounting information, develop cash flow forecasts and budgets and manage working capital. You will gain an understanding of the time value of money and its use in capital investment decisions and you will also learn the different sources of finance.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a broad and coherent understanding of the key concepts of accounting and finance for business-decision making;
- use a range of cognitive and communication skills to review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise relevant information drawn from a range of sources in order to demonstrate critical thinking and judgement in solving complex business-related problems;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on and respond appropriately to a range of ethical, cultural or social issues influencing the practice of business.
